Inspired by the Hon’ ble Prime Minister’ s impetus on Jal Sanchay, Government of India has launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) to revive India back to a sustained system of water conservation and efficient irrigation.
In this regard, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development has come up with a Samagra Shiksha Jal Suraksha (SSJS) campaign to promote water conservation activities for the school students in our country.
The concept of water conservation taught in the school will enable students to indulge in water conservation activities in their day to day lives. With this initiative, school students will become competent, conscientious and committed water citizens of our nation.
The campaign targets to save one liter of water every day per child thereby saving 365 liters of water in a year. Approximately ten crore children throughout the country will save 36500 crore liters of water in ten years.
